“THE WORST THING IS TO BE BORN SIGHTED BUT TO LACK VISION”

resized

As a teenager going back and forth to school I saw the above words everyday.  Bold l-e-t-t-e-r-s, stretched across the entrance of the local university campus as I rode by in the bus.

Been facinated by those words since, though I didn’t quite ’get it’ then.  Now I ‘see’ and totally relate to them.

What can I say.  My name is Jennifer Byrd.  As a kid I was Jennifer Brown and everybody called me Jennie B.  So I came up with Jn4B.  How’s that for a trendy eName?

I’m a mother of two sons, one grown and a teenager in high school.  Kids sure know a lot, don’t they?  They can teach you so much.

They can also drive you crazy and very close to committing bloody murder, at times.  Still, it’s awesome being their mom.  A true privilege actually.

I found real peace and purpose when I trusted The Almighty God, through His son The Savior, Jesus Christ.

Don’t know if that’s why I feel so blessed all the time, but I do.  Now don’t get me wrong.  I get hurt, angry, depressed and have problems like everyone else.

That said, today is brand new.  A gift.  Loaded with all kinds of possibilities.  The ever brilliant sun…such a masterpiece.  I love this time of year.

I’m using this blog to share my excitement and enthusiasm about the internet and online opportunities.

My aim is to share encouragement and be encouraged.

Years ago, after completing an interview, and as I shook hands with the interviewer when leaving, he said to me, “Young lady, you have enough positive attitude for 3 people”.

What better medium and platform to share the positive attitude with anyone who appreciates it, and then some who probably won’t or don’t.  Prime space don’t you think?  Courtesy of…you guessed it…the internet.

That’s the beauty of the ‘net.  There is room for everyone.

This is to motivate and inspire people to ’jump in and get your feet wet’ online.

Don’t stay on the sidelines and be left out (and this is a cliche but right on target) of ‘the greatest invention since sliced bread’.

What’s there to be so excited and enthusiastic about, you say?  Well, you gotta have vision.  Vision lets you see beyond any circumstance. Without vision you won’t see a thing.

This is for anyone who appreciates it but especially women.  Reason being that I’ve met and talked with too many women working at miserable jobs ‘stuck’ living miserable lives in less than savory situations.

I cringe when so many of them have said to me that they have no choice but to be miserably stuck.  Cornered.

No choice?  I don’t think so.

First, that mindset just won’t do.  It most definitely will block the vision of the many exciting choices.

I’m originally from Jamaica (land of sea and sun) and currently residing in the Garden State, New Jersey, USA.

I return to Jamaica as often as I can (my parents live there), have a blast with family and friends, eat all the ackees, beef patties and jerk chicken not to mention mangoes I can handle.

Dunn’s River is some serious fun.  ‘Irie’ everytime.

Why did I leave Jamaica?  I get asked that question all the time.  I can only hope that everyone else gets the same thrill I get out of going to new and different places, meeting new faces, trying new ventures.

Love the season changes in New Jersey.  In fact, coming from a Jamaican, this is probably ironic, but I love cool weather.  I get raised eyebrows and surprised looks everytime I say that.  Ha!

By the middle of summer I’m so looking forward to the spectacular change in colors and temperature.  AWESOME!

I always knew I was part of a much wider world and wanted to get out there and experience it.

Any wonder why I love the internet so much?  No borders.  We can reach out and virtually share across borders. :)

I absolutely revel in diversity.  Talk about choices?  I LOVE IT!

I can’t lay any claim to being a successful blogger…not yet anyway, but am working at it.  It’s so much fun!

Go ahead.  Share some encouragement.  Leave a comment.

Thanks for the wonderful encouragement and positive attitude. There have been many times in the last three years that I have wanted to give up but, for every day I put into this business, I reinforce a wonderful part of myself. Keep writing, learning and one day, the light will shine on your dreams! Good going.
